I have a network site set up and I’m trying to figure out a way to add posts from the different multisites onto the landing page.

I have a total of four sub sites. I would like to be able to show the first 6 posts (including a description, first photo, and date) for each subsite on the landing page. I’ve been digging around for stuff that’s out there. There are plugins for stuff like this for non-multisites so it would seem like this would be something out there for this as well.

I did find out about the “WordPress MU Sitewide Tags Pages” plugin, but this doesn’t work they way I need it to.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know any great plugins for something that I’m trying to do?

SiteWide Tags plus the featured posts plugin would do that. That’s what they do at wp.com I believe.

Thanks Ipstenu, I’ll give this a try and see what happens…

I’ll post later to give an update.

@ipstenu – I installed the SiteWide Tags and enabled them. The only problem is that the “featured posts” plugin doesn’t seem to work with the most recent version of WordPress.

@andrea_r – Yes, that is exactly what I’m trying to do except I would also like to show an image to the most recent post. What plugin(s) would I need to use in order to do something similar as in your example?

She’s using a modified version of SiteWide Tags and Featured Posts.

I’m using custom code. πŸ˜‰ Neither one of those plugins.

Hey, I thought it was based on those! That’s what Ron said!

Heh! Yeah, but by “based on” he means he went and ripped code from both and wound up with a new plugin. πŸ˜€

Remember it’s the one I said we’d release at one point and there’s another thread with 20 people begging for it? and then another guy came along and did his version and of course I didn’t mark it down?

Oh right! *fist shake at Ron*

Ahem. Well so you can take those plugins and rip ’em apart and shake ’em down. Though I think Andrea would be surprised that Sitewide tags isnt working with 3.2 (aren’t you, Andrea?).

Or there’s Diamond Multisite Widgets. Not as pretty visually, and it doesn’t grab the featured image.

I remember, we started with one of the wpmu recent posts plugins. i hunted for the thread, couldn’t find it.

Thanks for the info! I can’t believe there isn’t a pluggin for this, I would think it would be something everyone would want.

I really don’t want to do too much modifying with the plugins, but I may mess around and see what I can come up with.

There *is* a plugin for this, I just can’t find it. πŸ˜‰

start googling ” wpmu recent posts”

    could be

I haven’t tried this yet (I’m about to), but would it be possible to use RSS feed instead? I mean if we are just showing the excerpt and the title, can’t we just use some XSLT stylesheet (or PHP) to shape how the posts appear? This would definitely be a lot easier, no?

    Regards,
