Adding Pages with Version 2.8.2 (7 posts)

I've read through the Codex about 'Adding Pages' but it seems to only cover V2.5. I'm very new to WP, and I just can't seem to figure out how to add my new pages. I have the links set up, but can't add the pages and link to them.

Under the 'Pages' tab in Admin, it only lists 'Main Page' and 'Home' under Parent. I have created the pages, but can't link them accordingly.

I hope this makes sense... as I said. Complete novice here.

    Thanks in advance;

    Ryan

    1) in admin panel, go to pages--> add new and add a page
    2) Which theme are you using? Add a page widget in sidebar..

What do you mean by "Parent links under Attributes"?

You'll need to explain what you're talking about so we can understand what it is that you're trying to do. It might help if you post some screenshots, so we can see what you see.

If you're trying to change the parents of the pages, just go to Pages->Edit, click Quick Edit on whatever page you want to change, then pick the new parent from the dropdown and hit save. Nothing more to it.

Sorry, I'm trying to make heads and tails of this, so my explanation wasn't the greatest(to say the least). I appreciate any help very much though. I'll try to explain a bit better.

I only have 2 choices for the parents of my pages. 1 is Main Page(no parent), and the other is Home. No other choices are available, and I'm at a loss as what to do next.

I've tried both options that I can find for changing the parents of the pages. 1 is as you suggested Otto, under quick edit, the other is when you are making a new page. On the right hand side it has a 2 drop down menus. 1 is publish, and below that the other is attributes.

Under the attributes menu it lists Parents, and then a smaller drop down menu to show my choices.. which are only Main Page(no parent) and Home.

Below is the copied text... "Page Parent" being the drop down menu. Underneath, still under the attributes tab as well, it shows Order, with "Page Order" being a drop down menu also.

Hope this is a little more clear. I'll see if I can get a decent screenie as well.

    Parent

    Page Parent
You can arrange your pages in hierarchies, for example you could have an “About” page that has “Life Story” and “My Dog” pages under it. There are no limits to how deeply nested you can make pages.

    Order

    Page Order

Pages are usually ordered alphabetically, but you can put a number above to change the order pages appear in. (We know this is a little janky, it’ll be better in future releases.)

Have you actually created these Pages? Or are they drafts or something?

Pages must actually be published for them to show up in that list.

I love the sliding door theme and have it fairly well set up the way I want it where the first few doors link to pages and the remaining are going to external sites. How can I add pages now that will not address the sliders that don't have pages associated with them?
