Support » Fixing WordPress » Adding page to menu is 'unticking primary Menu'

  • When I add a new page to my menu and click save, the Primary Menu box is unticked, and I must go to ‘Manage locations’ and set it as a primary menu again.
I’ve disabled all plugins and reinstalled 3.8 from scratch….

If someone wants to login and see I’d be more than happy for them to have a look

  • Did you use a fresh database for the re-install?

And please do not offer logins via these forums.

How can I keep my data but do a fresh reinstall?

    Ta

You would need to use the same database again and just re-upload fresh core files. However, the problem may lie within your current database, so I think you would be better off doing a complete re-install using a fresh database – ideally in a sub-folder so that you can keep the old install for now.

Right I see, so I’ll lose all my posts / pages?

I think it might be something to do with maximum amount of pages/posts in my menu, whenever I replace something it still unticks the primary menu checkbox still but does update. If I add a new post/page on top of it, – it unchecks primary menu but doesn’t add the page on.

Not if you use a fresh database and leave the old install running.

Right can you expand a little? Step by step?

    Thanks a lot 🙂

Install a fresh copy of WordPress in a sub-folder(eg /wordpress) using a fresh database.
