Adding news feeds to my blog? (3 posts)

Hi all - seriously, I feel like a dummy asking this, but I've been reading and reading and I just don't seem to grasp the concept.

I want to have, in the sidebar of my personally hosted WordPress blog, news feeds show up, and where I can have the headlines relate to keywords I've chosen. These would be headlines from other content providers like CNN etc., filtered through keywords I choose.

I used to work for a big internet portal several years ago and I integrated AP and Reuters XML news feeds into our portal, and I thought the idea of RSS feeds in my sidebar was the same but I guess not?

    Or maybe I'm crazy?

    Thanks for your help :)

I used to be smart, I promise!

    Hey ...girl,

You're right. I had news feeds on a couple of blogs and static sites as well. There are free and paid services. I'll have to chase down the info - maybe over the coming weekend. (3.21.09)

    Hey ...girl,

Had a flash, went over to http://www.newsfeedmaker.com ,chose the FREE feed, picked a category, named the feed, styled my feed, copied the javascript, put a text box widget in a sidebar of my blog, pasted the javascript into the box and Blam - there it is. Maybe 10 minutes total. It ain't right yet but I just wanted to show you. Take a look at Green News at http://TheAlternativeEnergyReports.com The site is still under development so don't mind the mess, but you can see what I'm talking about. Check it out.

    Hope this helps,

    - John
