When adding a new category via post -> categories it reads "add a new tag" and there is a listing of "popular tags". Below I can choose the parent category. When I enter a name in the field for "tags" it will be added as a category though. Is it only me?

cinematic - You're saying you want to add a new category, but your description implies you're entering it in the wrong field (i.e. TAGS).
Are you clicking on + Add New Category and getting the DROP DOWN options?

If you're entering the name in the field for TAGS (the lower half of my screenshot) then you've added a tag, not a category.
Hi, thanks for the replies.
I am using add category in the admin interface (see screenshot)

It reads "tag" but meant is a category (and a category will be added if I enter a word).
I'm not seeing that problem either.
I'd see what happens if you upgrade to the latest nightly. But wonder if a plugin and/or theme is causing that.
@ techjockey - are you using version 3.0-alpha of WordPress?
I have upgraded to the latest nightly now everything appears fine ... thanks for the tiP!
