• Hi,

I have been trying to figure out how to add a menu to a sidebar on one of my pages for awhile now. Please help.

I have gone through widget and my theme will not allow me to add a advanced menu similar to the other pages. I have set up the page as a parent page with added sub pages to follow. I tried different setting, one in particular landed my menu to be in the complete wrong place.
    Advise please.

  • Hi! what’s the name of your theme? Maybe your theme layout doesn’t support sidebars.

    Hello,

There are other sidebar menus, just I can’t seem to add one to a new page. My theme was created by a marketing company, and I’d prefer to execute it in house, since normally this would be an easy task.

My theme has it’s own “Recent Post” widget that I can use as a sidebar and this contains all of my posts in this category. These posts are then link to my blog menu when clicked. I assume that if you want to add a menu to the sidebar go into your widget and drag the custom menu to the right?

    Hello,

Unfortunately no, for the widgets process I need to first enable the accessibility mode, then add desired widget. But because I do not have a sidebar position to place the widget in that I want, it is left as inactive. I do not know how to create that side bar position in order for me to place the menu.

If I understand you correctly, you want one of your page to be in a different sidebar but that ended up in the wrong place, assuming that this wrong place is your “Category”. You want it to land in a different sidebar correct (i.e, New Information) or somewhere else?

Go in your plugins and search for a new “custom sidebars”. This allows you to create all the widgetized areas you need. If your sidebar is inactive your page setting will not show options to where you want it to send to.

    Hello,

I just activated the plugin, and its great except I can’t make a sidebar to the desired page still. How do I place that page in a category?

    (Hope that makes sense)

Try going into your page setting and at the right side try link it to that category. Hope that work. My 2 cents. 🙂

    Hello,

Nope. I did just find that my theme is using Dynamic Widgets….

This page goes down something I think I have
    http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-themes/how-to-add-dynamic-widget-ready-sidebars-in-wordpress/

Any suggestions, I am really at a loss of words on how to do this

This forum is for themes found at http://wordpress.org/themes/ or in some cases WordPress problems. Having a commercial theme makes it impossible for volunteers to help. We have no idea what the developer did.

One thing you might try is to make sure you are using the correct template. That is on the right side of add new page.

Choosing the correct template could be one of the many solution to the whole process but it’s not showing up on the right sidebar either.

How do I setup the right template?
