Adding different Categories to different pages

Ok, probably the easiest thing to do, but I’m a noob! I need to set up 2 different categories. News and Blogs. The news I want the posts to appear on the default front page and the posts categorised as ‘blogs’ to appear on a blogs page.. How do I do this!! I’ve searched but can’t really make head nor tail of the code etc… Is their a step by step guide? Or am I missing something stupidly obvious?
