Adding Custom Fields to RSS feed? (4 posts)

Good morning! I found CCTM and thought it was a wonderful plugin; I was able to easily create my custom content type and create a template for my theme.

I did have one question: is there a plugin or method of displaying the custom fields I created for my content type in the RSS feed for my site? I am looking at my wordpress/feed xml and it only shows the title and content, none of the custom fields I created display in the xml.

Any support would be greatly appreciated!

That's a good question. Generally, WP has implemented a common solution that works for 80%+ of the users, but when it comes time to customize, it can get tricky. Since WP generates its feed via a core file, it may prove difficult to customize.... there might be an event or filter that you can hook into, but I can't say off the top of my head. If you find it, this would make a good feature request.

Thank you for the follow up fireproofsocks! I was able to work with a colleague, identifying a plugin to display custom fields into an RSS feed. I'm using the Feed Wrangler plugin to include my custom fields into a custom RSS feed; it takes some php work and requires uploading new templates to my theme, but it seems to be doing the job I need. Definitely take a look if you want; I think something like this would be an awesome future feature.

I did have one other question: I was trying to create a WYSIWYG custom field, but no matter what I try, I always get the following error message: "Due to WordPress limitations, WYSIWYG fields can contain ONLY lowercase letters".

I'm only using Label, Name, Extra (default values), Output Filter (default selection), and Association fields. I make sure that Name is all lowercase, but I still get this error. Is there anything you recommend I do to resolve this? Would love a WYSIWYG field!

    Thanks again!

Please add the RSS comments to a feature request: I am guaranteed to forget about it entirely unless it's in there: https://code.google.com/p/wordpress-custom-content-type-manager/issues/list

Re WYSIWG fields are working on many sites and in the CCTM unit tests, so I think there's something going on with your install. You can file a bug report, but I need the full information about your site (the stuff that gets printed when you click on the "Report a Bug" link at the bottom of every CCTM page). File this in the same place as feature requests: https://code.google.com/p/wordpress-custom-content-type-manager/issues/list
