  • Hi There:

    There are several settings to check. Some are global and others are in the individual posting or page that you’ve created. Remember that individual posting/page settings over ride global settings, so make sure that you check your settings in each of your post/page

    The global settings ate WP Dashboard>settings>discussion

    Make sure the “allow people to comment on new postings is checked”
    Make sure the “automatically close comments on postings older than” is unchecked

    On individual postings/pages

    The “allow comments” box is set.

    Hi Ron,

    Thanks,

    I checked the global setting and those are confirmed with what you suggested. I then started digging into the individual posts and no where can I find the “Allow Comments” box? I don’t see this anywhere in my options to “Check”. I go into my dashboard…I click posts…. I click on the post I want to edit with Edit Post… and then nowhere do I see this “Allow Comments” box to be checked/unchecked?

    Am I looking in the correct place?

    Depends on what plugin you’re running, but below the edit window, way down on the bottom of the window (you usually have to use your slide bar on the right side of Windows)

    You should see 2 check boxes

    One for “allow discussions on this post” and the other for allow track backs.

    Make sure the Allow discussions box is checked.

    I don’t see this anywhere in my options to “Check”.

    click ‘screen options’ near the top right when you edit a post, and make sure that ‘discussion’ is ticked;
    that should give you the ‘discussion’ area below the post editor to tick ‘allow comments’

    or goto dasboard – posts – all posts; click ‘quickedit’ below each post title, then tick ‘allow comments’
