Custom Content Type Manager
[resolved] Adding CCT fields to Foreign Content type (4 posts)

First of all, I love this plugin! Great job!

I have installed a theme, which comes with a (as cctm calls them), foreign content type (Courses). I want to create some additional fields to this content type, so I have created a custom content field, and attached this to the existing foreign content type (Courses), but the cct field does not show up in the backend.

Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks in advance!

You should be able to do this: it was a feature request at one point and it was implemented. Make sure your global setting for "Display Foreign Post Types" (under CCTM -> Global Settings). Then on your CCTM page, click the "Manage Custom Fields" link for that foreign content type and drag fields into an active metabox and save.

Note, however, that there's no way to guarantee that the foreign post type isn't actively manipulating the metaboxes and destroying whatever the CCTM is trying to do: that's just a drawback of WP.

Since there weren't any active metaboxes related to the post, I created one myself (any specific settings necessary?), and put my custom field in there, but the field still doesn't show up when editing my foreign post. Probably the theme builder can shed some light on it :) Thanks anyway!

Good luck. You'll find that WP wastes many hours with debugging like this, unfortunately. If customizations are a priority, I don't recommend WP.
