    Hi!

How do I add additional content boxes to a page or post?

For example, if I want a dynamic content box above the menu, how would I code that into my page template so that in the wordpress CMS, I would see multiple content input boxes for that page?

    THANKS!

That would really depend on the theme you are using. Unless you know how to edit PHP files, it's recommended to use theme frameworks like:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/suffusion
    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/pagelines
    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/responsive

So you can define the layout from the Admin Panel.

    Thanks!
If I know what the PHP code is, then I feel comfortable copying and pasting it in. I will check out the links above but I would need to find a solution for my particular theme which is Linen

If you are up for the challenge, here is the tutor, it's what you need to do to add the widget area feature, in this case above the main menu:

Is adding a widget area the same process as adding another content box?

No, it will be more like custom fields:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Custom_Fields

you can define them manually, or use a plugin like:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-fields-creator/

This one has fields, but their premium version has "view" feature, to create layouts also

Glad you've found the plugin you've needed :) I see it's very simple to use, so it's a good choice.

FYI The plugin that I've posted

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/

can do that too, allowing WYSIWYG Text editor content. it also allows you to post more different types of contents (simple text, large text, checkbox, file, image, etc.), so this is the one that I use for all my websites, because it's very flexible and feature rich.
