I'm using a theme I downloaded as a basis for a site, kind of going the CMS route on it, and I'm trying to figure out how I can add a widget to the right margin of every page on my site..
I'd prefer not to have it hardcoded into the theme, i'd like to be able to swap it out from the widget page.

it's not a matter of widgetizing my theme.. it's a newer theme with that stuff all set up. i guess it's more of a css question, i want to achieve something like this box on the left margin of the page.
just want a paypal donate widget that scrolls with the user and is on every page

No - it's a matter of adding a new widget-aware area to your theme. Please see the link I posted above.
