I'm desperately trying to add a splash screen to my site - I've got so far as to create an enter page which is the static home page, but isn't included on the menu.

Does anyone know if I can edit the index.php file so that it doesn't show the header or footer, but just the body of the page?

My knowledge is pretty basic and I understand I may be trying to do something complex so any help is greatly received!

    Site is: http://www.kelly-anne.com

    Thanks :)

Thanks esmi - I've done this already, however I can't work out how to clear the header and footer from the splash page (front-page.php file).

I just want to be able to embed a video on the splash page, with an enter link and no navigation menu or header. Any tips?

    Thanks!

Custom header and footer template files. See:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_header
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_footer
for how to call different header/footer template files.

Sorry, I meant I don't want the header or footer to show on the splash page, just the content of the page.

    Is that possible?

Yes. With custom header & footer template files

Am I being really stupid here? The link tells you how to add headers and footers to a page?

I literally just want to be able to embed a video on a blank page with nothing else on it. Sorry if I'm not quite understanding!

    Thanks for your help :)

Yes - and if you combine that with a custom front page template, you can have a page that looks completely different from anything else on the site.
