   A newbie here, looking for help. I've done a search for answers and found none.

   Simple question: How do I add a song, or a clip of a song to a post? Meaning, a link to click on that will play a song in a media player. I tried: going to Amazon, playing a clip, then looking at the location of that clip and copying it, then wrote a post and created a link to that location. Didn't work.

   Problem: I need things explained to me very simply. I co-author a blog with someone who does all the site management, so my skills are limited. For instance, if you tell me that I'm best off uploading a song, I don't know how to upload a song. See what I mean? I'm an idiot! ;-)

   Seriously, I'd be so grateful for any assistance

   What is the source of most of your clips going to be? Amazon.com? Or their music download service? If the latter, you need to register and sign in to download free music clips. Then, it's just a matter of choosing "Save File" rather than "Open File" and putting it on your computer's hard drive.

   Next, you'd upload that file through your WordPress Control Panel to your "uploads" directory, which will handily provide you with an URL you can cut and paste into your blog entry.

   Always consider your audience and indicate, where possible, the file's format (e.g., MP3, RealAudio, Windows Media, Quicktime, etc.) and, more importantly, the file's size (some people are still on dialup and are more inclined to suffer through downloading a 3MB clip as opposed to a high quality 10 MB song in its entirety).

   If you have an Amazon ID, it might just be better to talk about the song or the clip and provide the Amazon URL to that page, where your reader can download the clip himself. You may even then wish to employ one of the Amazon plugins available so that you get credit for any purchase the reader may make as a result of visiting your site and clicking through to Amazon from your blog entry.
