Adding a snippet of blog on to homepage (2 posts)

Hello everyone. I hope I can explain myself clearly with this question.

Basically, I have a website with a latest news section. The latest news section being the word press blog that I've installed and goes to ---.com/latestnews

I want to place a snippet of the latest blog entry on the home page that then links to the full blog entry/latest news.

I only want a bit of the entry to appear, say about 20 words, on the homepage so it'll give users an incentive to click on it and read the rest.

I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find any code that will allow me to do this.

    Anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you are talking about a mainly static front page (doesn't change) except for a part of it which shows the latest news?

If thats correct look at this - had a similar q a while back... http://wordpress.org/support/topic/128636?replies=8

Requires CSS DIV and creation of mini loop but other than that its fairly straight forward. Only difference being it sounds like you want some of the actual post to appear rather than just title in that case look at http://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop_in_Action#Introduction and excerpts.

Ah - just noticed. Only difference being in my case i used WP as a CMS for whole site, not just news. So the frontpage was actually based on a WP template i created.
