[resolved] Adding a sidebar to a blog template that doesn't have one. (5 posts)

Hello, and thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this!

I am using Cleano WP theme, and the theme has a static HP with it's own sidebar, a page template with it's own sidebar, and a "portfolio wrapper" that is used on the Blog section which does not have any sidebar. The result is a pretty "un-bloggy" looking and not very functional Blog section. The single post pages also have no sidebar...not thrilled about that either.

I really don't know anything about coding/css etc, and I fiddled around enough to figure out how to left align the blog entries on the page (previously they were extended across the whole page), and then I tried to take the code for the page sidebar and stick it into the main index php file to see if I could get it to appear. Well...it appeared all right, but multiple times...eg: the sidebar content was repeated next to every blog post! I know this has something to do with the way the rest of the page is coded....but I have reached the outer limits of my knowledge and have been unable to figure out how to solve this problem.

So....long story short....the actual goal is to have a Blog-page-specific, widget-ready sidebar on this page: http://www.savvyofficesolutions.ca/blog and/or on the single post pages.

If anyone is able to assist me with this at all I would be so grateful!

Thank you....I have read this stuff now and also searched around more on the web etc and unfortunately I'm still confused as heck and have tried just about everything I can think of. The best I've been able to do is to have the sidebar appear to the right of the bottom post on the page only. I placed the request outside the loop at the top, and at the bottom to see if I could get it to work. I was successful in getting it not to repeat itself, but not in getting it properly aligned on the page.

Is it possible someone with a modicum more knowledge than me could just have a look at the current code and tell me where to move the sidebar lines? I really appreciae the help! :)

You need to start looking at CSS.
