• Hey all, I’m using the Picture Perfect theme for my photoblog, http://www.nicbuncephotography.co.uk but I’ve been told that it looks too cluttered. Originally, I wanted to change the menu bar on the left so that it linked to Categories, not pages, but having failed at that, I tried to set it up so that I can have a header bar with categories, like the Pilcrow theme on my blog http://www.ramblinganicdotes.wordpress.com…

Problem is that I have no idea how to do this, and for the life of me I can’t get anywhere through forums and googling the problem.

Can anybody help out with any of that at all? Thanks in advance,

    Nic

  • It looks like your site is currently using twentytwelve? Picture Perfect looks to be quite outdated – you probably don’t want to use it as it may have compatibility issues:

I’m not totally clear on what you want to do – but to put category pages in your menu see:

Or if you want to make layout modifications to a theme, you’ll need to create a child theme and then make a custom template.

Sorry, I was messing with different themes and my internet died before I could fix it… It should be back to its previous layout, sorry…

I’ll give that a whirl in the morning, thanks. Specifically, I want to either change the coding in the Picture Perfect theme so that the icons on the left link to Categories, not Pages, or add a navigation bar to the header area for each of my Categories, underneath the line reading “Photography by Nic Bunce… Simple as that.”…

I like the way the icons on the left display; it’d be a shame to lose that.

Like I said, I would not recommend using a theme that’s not current — you’ll likely run into problems with it… You can likely recreate that look/layout in another theme with some custom work.
