[resolved] adding: "%E2%80%9D" to post links. (3 posts)

Hi, I'm having trouble with links I include in posts. It seems to be adding "%E2%80%9D" in front and behind of every link when the post is published and made live. So while in the HTML view of the admin post edit screen it looks correct:
    <a href=”http://help.xanga.com/whatisablogring.htm”>blog rings</a>
When it's published to the page it looks like this:
    <a href="%E2%80%9Dhttp://help.xanga.com/whatisablogring.htm%E2%80%9D">blog rings</a>
What is even more confusing is when I simply roll over the link in my status bar it shows mydomain.com/http://the-link-I-entered and goes to that (which of course doesn't exist) when click.

Anybody encountered this problem before? I did heavily edit the CSS and page layout of the default style.

Yesterday I updated my WP blog to 2.8.5 and today, my first post started with the issue described a little above. At the beginning and the end of each link from article it is inserted %E2%80%9D . I saw two complaints from 8-10 months ago... nobody can post here a decent answer? Even here is "support topic" or I`m on an a wrong place?...
