    He there!

    First time working with wordpress.
I do have some coding skills (html, css,js very little php).

I am looking to add another <div> on the (default) home-page after the three widgets. Where do I find the file for the home-page? In that file, in what languages can I write?

    Hope I'm clear enough....

In the reading settings in the administrator section you can specify a static page to display on the homepage instead of your latest posts. You could then create a page in the wp admin area and give it a custom template if you wanted complete control.

    Thanks for reply.

The Resposive theme has a default home-page set, that is what I am looking to edit.

Does it have a page set? Go to that page in your wp admin. If it has a template different than default, you could edit that.

I did not set a page yet. The theme has a page which automatic sets itself (as you download it) as the home-page. I want to keep that page but edit some of the code in it.

Ok, under reading, is it set to display your latest posts or a static page?

Look in front-page.php or home.php in your theme root. If neither of those exist, edit index.php in your theme root. You can follow wp's logic of which template to load here: template heirarchy

Also, ideally you should create a child theme rather than editing files from the parent theme.

Do not have a front-page.php or home.php but I do have index.php, will look at it to find out where I need to edit.

I did make it a child theme.

    Thanks so much!

Read my question carefully, I want to use the 'default home page' and make some edits to it. The link you provided talks about using a different page as the home page.

    Hi,

Can you please give me the link where you question was posted and where forum did not give you the right answer?

Anyways, you will need to edit home.php locate in your Theme folder, now since we're customizing note that Child Theme needs to be installed and home.php copied from /responsive/ to /responsive-child-theme/

Adding an additional DIV should be pretty straightforward.

    Thanks,
    Emil
