Support » Fixing WordPress » "add new user" fails

  • I try to add a new user as ‘editor’ in the normal way but always get taken the the front-end at:

    mysite/wp-admin/user-new.php Page Not Found

I have done this many times in the past without problem and I am only doing this because the user reported that his login had stopped working, so I deleted his ‘user’ and tried to create a fresh one with a new username.

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Did exactly as you suggested, esmi, and problem persists as before.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
