    I have been creating new sites with no problem. Last Friday suddenly I tried creating a site, but the tables on the DBASE are not create so the site is useless. The error message is "Error establishing a database connection" I have read all topics about this and looked it up on Google, but didn´t find any solution.

    1. I recreated the .htacess file several times
    2. I recreated the wp-cofid.php several times
    3. I re-installed WP several times

    Mothing works. Its like sudden death, from creating sites from the backend now I am unable...finito...silch...nada.

    DreanHost says its a WordPress problem, this their argument:

    BrandonW: [Tue Dec 06 02:20:43 2011] [error] [client 173.236.233.79] Premature end of script headers: php5.cgi

    BrandonW: That could be the issue

    BrandonW: It's possible the script is not executing which wouldn't be a MySQL problem.

    Question:¿where do I fix this "Premature end of script headers: php5.cgi"?

    Would be greatful if anyone can help me fix this!!!!!!!!!!

    Thx, Donald.

  2. First check how much space you have on the database.

    Mind you, Dreamhost has their own directions (old) for Multisite - http://wiki.dreamhost.com/WordPress_MU - So they DO support this.

    I would also try putting this at the TOP of your .htaccess

    Options +ExecCGI
    AddHandler php-cgi .php
    Action php-cgi /cgi-bin/php.cgi

    <FilesMatch "^php5?\.(ini|cgi)$">
    Order Deny,Allow
    Deny from All
    Allow from env=REDIRECT_STATUS
    </FilesMatch>

    (That's from their directions to force php5 cgi)

    I added:

    Options +ExecCGI
    AddHandler php-cgi .php
    Action php-cgi /cgi-bin/php.cgi

    <FilesMatch "^php5?\.(ini|cgi)$">
    Order Deny,Allow
    Deny from All
    Allow from env=REDIRECT_STATUS
    </FilesMatch>

    But it gives me a 500 error, when trying to use the site (backend or front end)

    When you mean TOP that means above the "# BEGIN WordPress" line?

    Thx! @Ipstenu !!

    @Ipstenu Mind thet on the fron end site DO get created...does it use a different process?

  5. When you mean TOP that means above the "# BEGIN WordPress" line?

    Yes.

    I mean at the VERY VERY uptmost top. But if it gives a 500, then you don't need it. (I have no way of knowing if Dreamhost's doc is up to date.

    Mind thet on the fron end site DO get created...does it use a different process?

    Wait ... what? You mean the newsite.domain.com page works but NOT newsite.domain.com/wp-admin ?

    Because my install is with sub-directories the:

    http://www.pilarsocial.com/wp-admin/network/site-new.php <-- does not work.

    http://www.pilarsocial.com/sitios/create <-- does work!

    (it is in Spanish)

  7. Ah, you're using BuddyPress.

    Okay.

    What I mean is does http://www.pilarsocial.com/NEWSITENAME work?

    No, it gives me "Error establishing a database connection" the tables don´t get created...

  9. Right okay.

    http://www.pilarsocial.com/sitios/create is a 404 page for me. (My Spanish is terrible, but I can stumble through).

    Do you mean that if you create a site via http://www.pilarsocial.com/registrate it works, but NOT if you go through the network screen?

    Yes I create sites using the buddypress front end: either on the registration process or using the /sites/create page. But from the back end using Add New it doesn´t create the tables so the new sites, even if they seem to be created, actually do not exist!! That is why there is the Database not connect error. This only from the network admin multisite admin side.

  11. That ... is very odd. Have you posted on the buddypress.org forum about this?
