[resolved] Add new Sidebars or widget outside of theme ? (2 posts)

I want to add new Sidebars (or widget ? ... in the new sidebar ? )to my daughter´s theme Pageline on http://www.johannaostlund.se.
We want to use the white area on both sides of the theme.
A trouble could be that Pageline don´t admit to resize the theme.
But I think it should be possible to have a widget/sidebar outside of theme ?
    How to do that ?

I´m just basic on HTML5/CSS3 and right now doing the very ground course in Javascript.

    Hi there,

If I understand you correctly you want to add content either side of your current site's content? Your theme has a max-width of 800px for the .content div so I presume you want to add content beyond this 800px.

To do the above, apologies if I have understood incorrectly, then I believe you will need to do some, not so trivial, modifications to your theme files. You will need to add extra sidebars (you could do this using Widgets on Pages but prob best to do it this way and then call these sidebars as new divs before and after the core content is loaded. You could do this by creating a child theme of Pagelines so that you can still update the Pagelines theme when updates are released.

An alternative to the above is of course to find a different theme which already provides multiple sidebars, etc.

I hope this is of some help,
    Todd
