    So here's the deal...
When I add new post or edit a post it looks like this:
    http://i.imgur.com/rrrly.jpg

Clicking on Visual or HTML does nothing, when I click Upload/Insert it pops up the media upload box at the bottom of the page and halfway hidden off the left side of the screen. All plugins are off and I'm completely lost. I didn't actually do anything to make this happen that I know of. I logged in and it was just screwed. Any ideas?

On the posts page it's also jumbling up the list view/expand view buttons. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Have you tried:

    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    - re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress.

I've now tried all three of those. No dice.

This is killing me. Surely I did something along the way that messed it up...But I've no idea what.

Here's what it looks like down at the bottom, all jumbled up. As you can see half the stuff is hidden off screen. I'm still at a loss.

And sorry for the quality of the image, all I've got to work with at work is Paint.

I can see signs of a few plugins still running - facebook and amazon related.

I just went through and deactivated all plugins. And I don't have any Amazon plugins running, just a banner link and some text links.

I have an amazon link on the other site on this domain (http://www.badsequels.com) but not on the /tastylies/ directory.

What signs of running plugins do you see?

If you mean the stuff on the side, that's just text entered into the 'text' widget. Just code, no plugins.

Hard to say. I simply see references to frames that are related to Facebook and amazon when I try to examine the page source. did you try resetting the plugins folder using Phpmyadmin? I've know of cases when this has been the only way to kill off a truly vampiric plugin.

I tried it via FTP, let me try via PHPMyAdmin.

The option value field was already set to "a:0:{}" but I went ahead and saved it anyways. Still nothing.

    This is craziness.

Try adding define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false ); to the bottom of your wp-config.php file (just before the require_once line).

Dropped that in, it actually broke things more. Busted the admin bar as well as sub-menu items from the menu on the left. And didn't fix the problem with Add New Post.

And I just wanted to take a second to say thank you for even trying to help me, it means a lot.

    Do you still have problems?

Sadly, yes. Nothing I've tried from here helps and I can't seem to find other people having this same problem. I set the theme back to what it was when I'm not taking a look at it but I still have the plugins all off save for Askimet. It's driving me nuts. And to recap...

Here's what the Add New Posts page looks like (When I mouse over HTML, Visual, or Upload/Insert it's recognized as text and not a link)

Here's what the Upload Media box opens like (half off screen):

Here's what the Show All Posts page looks like (Notice the tabs above 'Categories'):

Are you pasting content in from elsewhere? I'm a little concerned with all of the #39; and nbsp; references in your post content.

I'm not. I was using the visual editor until last Wednesday. Then the visual editor stopped loading.

Have you checked your server's error logs recently?

What should I be looking for?

No idea. In theory, you shouldn't have any errors.

Yeah, I'm not seeing anything. But I've never checked error logs before so I was concerned I was looking at the wrong thing.

It looks like a javascript issue of some kind but this isn't one I've ever seen before. Did you change anything before this happened? Have your hosts?

That's the thing, I changed nothing. I just logged in one day and it was like that. That's what had me so confused. Had I changed something I'd of had a jumping off point to look for an issue. My host is GoDaddy, but I don't see anything about any kind of change...

In that case, the next step is going to be real fun... You need to have a word with GoDaddy to find if anything was changed on the server recently. If you can give them the server's name and a date window for the change, so much the better. Don't be surprised if you don't get anywhere initially - especially if you get a support person who cannot cope with any question that is not part of their "script". You may need to push them on this one. You can also tell them that we've tagged the topic for their attention in these forums. :-)

    haynerfide,

Have you duplicated the issue in multiple browsers? Also, have you tried to update your WordPress to the most recent version? If it were a change on our servers, I'm fairly certain we'd be hearing about multiple users experiencing the same issue. I'd be happy to see what we can do to troubleshoot it for you though.

I see you've disabled all plug-ins and tried reverting to the Twenty Eleven theme without success.

I'd be interested to know if it does occur across multiple browsers as it could possibly be a browser-specific or add-on/extension issue. Also, if you're not running the most recent version of WordPress, upgrading may be an idea.

Additionally, you may want to consider uploading a fresh WP-Admin folder. I can't guarantee that will fix it, but it's been known to fix this issue for other users.

NOTE: Please be sure that if you do choose to upload a fresh WP-Admin, you use one from the same version of WordPress you have installed at the time of the upload.

It does happen across all browsers (I've tried Firefox, Chrome, and IE) and I am using the most recent WP release, 3.4.1 I believe?

I'll try reuploading the WP-Admin folder again when I get home (Currently at work without access to my files). Thank you for popping in here to check on this. I'll update as soon as I give it a shot.

Alright, an update. I again reuploaded a fresh copy of /wp-admin/ and nothing changed. I feel like I'm losing my mind with this.

We ran some tests with your database, imported it into a fresh WordPress and didn't have any issues with the Dashboard. This leads us to believe there may be issues with the files.

Potentially, you could re-install WordPress and import your content and database, but we do have some other ideas for you to try that we don't want to discuss in a public forum. If you'd like, we can give you a call to chat about this. If you'd like to do that, please let me know when a good time to call during business hours would be. We're on Arizona time if that helps.
