[closed] "Add Media" button not working on post page (15 posts)

    I've gone through all the steps in the troubleshooting post - http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-35-master-list - and this problem remains.

    I have disabled all my plugins, reinstalled WordPress and am using the Twenty Eleven theme.

    The Add Media button doesn't do anything when I click it.

    It's a brand new site with no posts and not much customisation yet, so I'm not sure what could be screwing up the button.

    Thank you!

    I'm still having this issue. I've noticed the 'featured image' button isn't working either.

    Thank you! I gave that a try before posting the thread but I think it cocked up my theme, which uses Javascript.

    The website I'm looking at is http://drinksinthediningcar.com/ - there are a few posts up but they aren't appearing on the home page, although they were before I tried the fix.

    Same problem for days now.

    In the process of moving all my blogs to Blogger. WordPress just gets worse and worse, as every time they do an update they don't test it correctly for bugs.

    Typically this isn't a problem with the core programming of WP. More times than not a button won't work because a theme or plugin isn't compatible with the latest version of WP.

    @Kerry - Since it's a brand new install have you tried simply re-installing the files? Maybe a file got missed or didn't get uploaded correctly. I've seen this happen before.

    Adding
    define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false ); to wp-config.php, as described in the link supplied by REDLETTERpr above, fixed the issue for me. Thanks.

    Hi all, I have experienced this problem as well. I wanted to stop my blog and start with another new one. I usually add image/images to my every single post that is why I was so frustrated that time I upgraded to 3.5 WP version.

    But guess what, 3.5.1 has fixed everything.

    So why not upgrade to 3.5.1 as well?

    Here is the solution that worked for me after debugging the code:
    1. Open this file: wp-admin/js/post.min.js
    2. Format the code of that file using a service like this: http://www.formatjavascript.com/
    3. Find l = n.split("-"); In my case it was line 250.
    4. Replace

    l = n.split("-");
    l.shift();
    i = l.join("-");
    k = i + "_tab";

    with

    if (n) {
    l = n.split("-");
    l.shift();
    i = l.join("-");
    k = i + "_tab";
    }

    5. Go to the admin and refresh. Problem should be solved now.

    No! Never, ever, edit WordPress core scripts. And do not encourage others to do so. Editing core scripts can bring down your entire site and/or open security holes for hackers to use.

    Adding
    define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false ); to wp-config.php, as described in the link supplied by REDLETTERpr above, fixed the issue for me also.

    Thanks.

    Having this same issue. I really don't want to have to redownload wordpress. I'm new at this and just want to edit the site and keep encoutering glitches.
