Only on the home page under the main picture is there a way to remove the white box section and replace with images that can be used as web links.

    my website: 'here'

Photoshop version of what i am trying to achieve
    'here'

I have been working on this problem for some time so any help would be really appreciated.

you may have to create a new page template and then once you've created it and got it displaying what you want (and created the page of course!) in the settings menu under reading you can select that page to be your static front page.

Alternativly you can use a static page as your home page and set up a simple HTML table within the static page, including all the nice boxes you need.
