    Hmmm. I'm a bit confused.

I would like a video to play on my sidebar, that is NOT youtube.

I cannot figure out how to do this. I Dled uploaded an .avi file, and put the code in a text widget. All it displayed was a link to the download.

I read about flash. So I installed the Flash Video Player 5. Installed it. Put the widget on my sidebar, and still nothing. I then converted the .avi file to .flv and now I cannot figure out how to upload the file. It didn't spit out a file - it just gave me a link, when I double click it, it opens up to firefox and shows the flash video. !?!?

How do I get the video to upload to my wordpress site and play on the sidebar?! I'm confused here. Any info would be great! Thanks!

Ok, So I found the actual .flv file. I have uploaded it to the wordpress site. But still, when I copy and paste the url in to the widget box, nothing.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?! ughh...this is frustrating. lol

wow, it's actually as simple as this:

Click 'add video' when you are making a post. Copy and paste the URL. Really is that simple. I just didn't know there was a button for that... Go figure.

    Greetings,

I have a problem with the widget Flash Video Player 5, the widget doesn't propose me to insert the url of the video or to pick a video in my library. There is only 2 fields : "Title" et "Tag". There is no url field neither in the settings panel. How can I display my video??

    Hey wbnet!

So ya, I use this plugin.

When you want to insert a video in the sidebar type this in the tag field (in the widgets).

    [flashvideo file=http://yoursitename.com/yourvideofoldername/moviename.mov /]

Keep in mind, you need to set the video size in settings, under flash videos.

    Good luck!

    p.s.
I don't think you use this plugin to show youtube videos on your site. I'm not sure, maybe you can, but my impression is that you use this plug in to display videos on your own server. I would recommend another plugin called "simple Youtube" if you want to show youtube vids on your sidebar. I only use this to play videos on my website that I uploaded on my own site.
