Bare with me, for I am a newbie and an idiot...

I am currently using P2 template. I would like to add additional fields in the post box that user's can add additional information. For example, currently the main page post box only has a field to input a quick post and/or comment. I would like to add:

    1. First Name
    2. Last Name
    3. Date of Birth
    3. Vehicle Make (a drop-down box to select would be great)
    4. Vehicle Color (a drop-down box to select would be great)
    5. Vehicle Year (a drop-down box to select would be great)
    6. Issue and/or problem

I would really appreciate any and/or all help. If you know of a plug-in that currently does this, please let me know. Please keep in mind, again, I am a super newbie, so step by step detailed information is appreciated. Examples would be great as well. Thanks.

Would something like Cimy User Extra Fields work?

Thanks for the tip, but it appears that this plug-in is used for registration. I am actually referring to adding similar fields to the main post box on the main web page. I would like to actually have the ability to edit and change the existing post box P2 theme. Any thoughts?

Ah - those aren't really users in WordPress terminology, so I wasn't clear. I guess you mean people who leave comments on a post?

I also found this plug-in - it's not free and you should check with the plug-in maker to find out whether it's 3.1-compatible:

I've just downloaded and activated the custom comment plug-in. I created a field, but do not see it anywhere on the site. Again, another idiotic question. Where should it show up at? By "comments" you are referring to the "posts box section" correct? Thanks.

Sorry - I really don't know what you mean by "post box section." Can you provide a screenshot?

I am not familiar with this plug-in, but as I said it may not be compatible with version 3.1. I suggest you try contacting the plug-in developer for assistance.

How do I provide a screen-shot here? Do you want me to email you a screen-shot so you can see exactly what I am referring to? Thanks.

No, please don't email me anything. Do you have access to a public account with a service like Photobucket, Flickr, or Picasa?

In any case, if you are using a plug-in to add extra fields to the comment form - where a commenter adds their name, email, and comment etc. - the extra fields should appear there if the plug-in is installed correctly.

I just registered with flickr. Give me about 5 minutes, and I will provide a link to it. Thanks Again.

The items and fields in "blue" is what I would like to add and make it the uniformed layout on the site. Obviously, the rest is the actual screen-shot of the main page. As you can see, right now, the only option available with the "post box" is a section to put a quick post in, and a section to tag, and the post button.

Hope this provides a better understanding of what I am trying to do. Thanks.

I forgot to mentioned, that I actually want to have the boxes (labeled in blue) there so that the user can input the required info every time in order to post. Don't ask me why, just want to. Thanks.

Ah - that is not the comments box at all. I'm going to let someone else chime in on this one as I'm not familiar with what you're trying to do. Apologies for all the inappropriate suggestions earlier! A picture really is worth a thousand words. :-)

I am working on this also and I think we need a plugin that adds custom/extra fields to the "write" post page or a custom post page.I keep running across "Custom Write Panel" that would seem to add the extra field we need but have not tried it to see if works with P@.

Hi I'm wondering, does anyone know how to 'remove' fields? As opposed to adding them? :)
