I allow comments and the appropriate fields display including the “add comment” button. When you click the button though, nothing happens. I contacted the custom theme folks and they told me that it was a plugin that was causing the issue. I deactivated several plugins today that I was not using and it was fixed for a short period of time. Add comment worked, I got the “Moderate comment” email and life was good. Tonight I was told by a blog viewer that they could not comment. I tried it again tonight and it was back to not working again.

Suggestions?? I did a search on this and found a pertinent topic from 5 years ago but with so many WP updates I thought it better to start a new topic.

    Thanks!

  • Have you tried deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

I did that and the comments were working fine with the plugins I currently have. They just stopped again the other day and I had not added any more plug ins.. It also seems like there are some plugins I cannot remove because when I do I cannot navigate to some pages on my website. Are there certain plugins that typically seem to cause these errors with WP comments?

    Thanks!

One more interesting thing I just noticed.. If I type a comment while the page is loading still (have to be quick) I am able to enter a comment.. see here: http://whatboundariestravel.com/blog/2010/10/17/the-owls-of-the-booboo-zoo/comment-page-1/#comment-15

I was able to enter a comment here – only while the page was still loading. It populated “Contacting Whatboundariestravel.com at the bottom bar (or something like that) but again, only if I entered the comment as the page was still loading was I able to get the comment to take.

Any ideas? I am getting ready to do a launch of the new site and I really need to be able to get comments from my readers.

    THANKS!

I took all my plugins down again and it still is not working. When I put my cursor over the “add Comment” button no link or go to appears in the bottom toolbar. A friend who is using Firefox sees lh5.ggpht.com when she puts her cursor over the box. Neither of us can add a comment though. I was not sure if this info would help in solving the problem.

I’m hoping you can help! Thanks!

Sorry to inundate.. Just wanted to update the issue to let you know that it seems that if you are using Internet Explorer, you can post comments as I am getting some. I tested Safari and FF and neither work.
I still kept my plugins deactivated as well..
    Thanks again.
