Add code to functions.php (3 posts)

I have not done much work with the functions.php file in WP, but now I'm working in WPMU and have a couple of questions.

It doesn't appear each site has a functions.php file, but rather the entire network uses the file inside /wp-includes. Is this correct?

Also, is there a way to have a 2nd functions.php file, so version updates don't overwrite the functions.php file?

    Thanks.

the add on sites are virtual so whatever themes are network activated is what they use

you don't have a 2nd one - you make a child theme and that way nothing is over-written on updates

  3. When you are reading tutorials about functions.php files, they are referring to a theme file, not the core file in that folder. That file under wp-includes is completely different. Do not touch it.
