Im trying to figure out what the "Add Category Links" in the Dashboard Overal" menu does.. I thought it would give me the ability to add links to maps by adding addresses on the description of the category but so far no luck..anyone who could please explain what I'm doing wrong?
Also what does the options below do?

Category Link Text

It's kind of a legacy feature for adding map links (to the Global Mashup Page) in category lists, like the one you get from the Categories widget. The other options affect the format of the output.
It works for category lists, but not dropdowns. I think I prefer adding a map to category archive pages themselves using this template snippet:
