   I want to do the following in the simplest way possible:

   (1) For my admin user and my "name" user (me) I want to upload a .jpg from my PC and tell WP to use that jpg as my avatar for all future posts on the blog.

   (2) For my two co-authors, I want them to e-mail me their jpgs and then I will repeat the process to set them up with avatars with their pictures on it.

   I'd prefer to skip this "gravatar" stuff that involves php's if possible - I must have misunderstood something - I can't believe that something as simple as selecting a picture as your avatar involves programming with php commands. Tell me it doesn't, please!

   Simplest way I know is to go here: http://en.gravatar.com/ and upload your image. Then set your email address to the same email address you used for creating your gravatar and all should be well.
