Add author information to the usermeta table (4 posts)

I have discovered the usermeta table as a way of storing extra information about a user. I know this was added fairly recently but i want a GUI to be able to edit the information that goes into it, so users can edit there own profile.

I have only found solutions which create their own table instead of using the wordpress one. Does anyone know of a plugin which can do this, or even the function which sets the usermeta?

    Thanks

    Daniel

    Might look at http://www.cimatti.it/blog/cimy-wordpress-plugins/cimy-user-extra-fields/

Register Plus allows you to create 'custom fields' for user but don't believe you can edit them later:

Ronald has a nice series about creating a Plugin that included creating new user fields:

    Also:

I am also playing with this stuff and I was wondering why there is no 'add_usermeta' function. How am I supposed to add new meta informations to a user profile?

In order to add usermeta, just use the update_usermeta function. If the meta key exists, it will update it, if not, it will create it.
