I would like to add a box with a light shade of color in it to the post, ads and widgets in my theme. The website I like is this one, http://www.ohsoshabbybydebbie.com I like the shaded boxes around the post, ads and widgets. Can this be done on the twenty eleven theme?

Can this be done on the twenty eleven theme?

    Yes, it can.

Your best option is to create a Child Theme and then use a CSS inspection tool such as Firebug to discover the styles that will be added to the Child Theme's stylesheet overriding the parent theme.

Tip: 'Boxes' around elements are 'border' usually but could also be a background color with margin/padding applied...

I do have a child theme already but I do not know how to use the firebug to do this. Is there a css command I need to look for in my Parent CSS?

I found a .widget but it looks like it is controlled by a plugin. Is that possible? Is there a plugin to create a shaded box for the post, etc?

Ok, I found what you were wanting me to look at in the link above. There are several .sidebar and .widgets alone and then there is the one that features them both. I just don't kow how to apply it to my page. Any help would be apprecited.

    Thanks.
