Hi

I was wanting to make a new page that is not linked to the main menu, instead I want to have a small sub-menu in the footer where a link to this new page will appear is there a way to make this happen?

The template tag, wp_list_pages(), is typically used by theme designers to display Pages in a nav bar. With the help of the Template Hierarchy article, determine what Template is displaying your Pages (probably header.php), then look for wp_list_pages and add an exclude=x to exclude the page id you are referring to. Note that the x represents your page id.

Then for your footer, you would add wp_list_pages with an include=x argument to the footer template (probably footer.php).

Alternatively, to be able to tell WP which pages not to put in the main menu, have a look at Simon Wheatley’s exclude pages plugin. With this plugin, when you create or edit a page you’ll get a checkbox to enable the page to be included or excluded from the menu.
