• hello,
    i was messing about with wordpress(i am a newbie). I had installed wp on my site and then where it says “yoursite.com/ Visit site Remove Only manual upgrade possible unknown, i mistakenly clicked on the remove link.

    So i went back to New Installations and clicked on that link and filled in all the reqd info and clicked on Install WordPress and i got an msg saying:

    The installation can not be completed:

    – You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.

    Click on the browser’s Back button to fix reported errors.

    I need a brief step by step plan on how to reinstall wordpress on my domain. Please can someone help me. Thankyou.

  • Did you click the “remove link” in the admin section inside WordPress or in some sort of control panel at your webhost? Talk to your host; they have the limits set on files and scripting in your hosting account.

    hello,
    i clicked remove inside wordpress. what do i do now pls?

    There is no “Remove Site” option within WordPress. You must have been using your hosts control panel; I’d ask them to help. Might be a conflict with any exisiting site you already have.

    I have experienced this a few times in helping people out
    from the 1st install, the wordpress index.php is likely still present
    you will need to delete this file and you may be be able to re install

    on some servers I had to also delete the fantver.txt and/or fantver.php if present in wordpress root

    This sounds to techy for a babe like me. Oh i wish i had never made this mistake. i click on the “remove” in wordpress via fantastico.

    @samboll, you’re not stepping me on 🙂 You know lots that I don’t.

    @global1967, Sounds like – as Samboll said – another index.php file. Look for that with your file manager.

    Or, according to others in these forums specifically regarding fantastico, try this or ask your host to fix it:

    Fantastico shows error ‘You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.’ In order to solve this issue you should follow these steps:

    1. Log in cPanel and click on File Manager;
    2. Navigate to .fantasticodata in your Home Directory;
    3. Delete the file installed_in_root.php.

    This will ensure there is no Fantastico information remaining from previous installations.
