Access Dashboard after installation

    Hi

    I really hope someone can help.

    I want to start a new self hosted blog and uploaded wordpress 2.8.2 to Filezilla but i have no idea how to access the wordpress dashboard. I typed in http://sa-successskills.com/wp-admin/index.php and expected to see the dashboard, but nothing happened!

    I have searched high and low for the answer and assume its simple but i just cannot get my head around it

    what am i doing wrong? where do i go to access the backend of my blog?

    Hi Hamza,

    You have only just set your DNS for your host and they don’t seem to have propagated through yet.

    You need to wait till that happens befor you can use your hosting account and upload files to. Usually it takes 24 to 78 hours, but can take less depending on your host.

    Am i correct in thinking that i can access the dashboard for this blog by typing the url above? I have a self hosted blog that i access from the wordpress.com page but there doesnt seem to be a similar way in .org!

    Hi

    Just got off a webchat with the hosting company and they said this:

    “That’s because they are all still in Propagation,

    DNS propagation is based on your location and ISP and is not something we have control over. But after you enter the correct nameservers at your domain registrar (the site you purchased your domain name from), propagation usually takes full effect within 24-72 hours. After that, your site will be appearing on our server and your webmail will be fully functional.

    you don’t need to add the index.php but yes that would be the dashboard url
