• Can someone suggest an image library/catalog plugin for me?

I am trying to set up a wordpress site for my father, who is an archaeologist. He wants to have an image library where he can categorize and subcategorize images. once you get to an image, you can see lots of custom metadata (Date acquired, Location, related items, etc).

I realize I will probably need to create something myself, but is there anything out there being developed for the academic/scientific communities in terms of image libraries?

He really just wants to share his findings with the world, in case other archaeologists or hobbyists have an interest in the specimens his school has cataloged.

You could do this in WordPress. For example with custom taxonomies and/ or custom fields, and a plugin such as Search Everything or Search Unleashed.

You might want to take a look at ZenPhoto or Gallery2 as well. These are from the start more specialized in photography itself.

Were you able to find or develop a plugin that incorporates museum or library collection metadata?
