Absolute beginners – PHP not working

Hi,

I decided just recently to start a blog while I never did anything like making a website before. I purchased a domain and downloaded Filezilla to upload WordPress to it since the host doesn’t have a one-click install function.

After following all the steps in the guide I double-click install.php but get a message that PHP is not running or is turned off. My host uses php5 though.

My guess is that I made a mistake with the uploading. I just uploaded the whole directory but not in public or private but as a whole new directory next to it, but I really don’t know if that’s wrong.

Please help me through the basics!
