   Can anyone help me with this question, Ive spent hours looking at website software, and with firends recommending this to me, im thinking of going down the wordpress route.

   Having not built a website before ....

   Can I just download wordpress and have a play with it, make test websites etc. So I dont have to think / worry about get hosting straight away?

   Any advice would be very much apreciated :)

   Yes, but you will have to set up a local web server, php and mysql on your computer. The easiest way to do so is to download and install XAMPP or WAMP (or MAMP if you're on a Mac).

   You can visit the Localhost installs section if you run into trouble.
