    Hi, I want to make an About page use a special theme file. Can I just make an about.php file and will that work?

    Thanks,
    David

    Yep, that's about it. Just be sure (assuming you're using WP 1.5 or greater) that you include this at the very beginning of about.php:
    <?php
    /*
    Template Name: About
    */
    ?>
    <?php get_header(); ?>
    [...]

    Save your template into the theme folder. Then go into Manage -> Pages, click on "Create New Page", enter "About" (or whatever you want to call it) into the Page Title field. Then from the Page Template dropdown menu, pick "About". (It's picking up that name from the code above, BTW. If you don't include that snippet, you won't "see" the template in that dropdown.)

    If you want, you can include a meta tag pointing to a separate CSS file for your About page, or you can add the About CSS to your main theme file.
