Ability to integrate the plugin to implement email piping feature? (14 posts)

    Hello Wayne,

    I would like to know if I activate email piping feature to SupportPress theme(woothemes) using your brilliant plugin- Postie.

    I tried to check on my end. But currently, "config test" gives an error. I think there is some sort of issue with my email server

    Unable to connect. The server said:POP3 connect: Error [110] [Connection timed out]

    I will investigate if this is my gmail configuration's fault. Meanwhile, can you tell me if we can use the plugin to let the users submit requests via email?

    I doubt if the theme restricts the plugin's default nature. Can you check it on your end if I provide the theme?

    Thanks!

    Please take a look at: http://postieplugin.com/postie-gmail/

    Once you get the email check working let me know if there are issues with SupportPress.

    Hi Guys,

    Did you manage to get any update or conclusion to this thread ?

    Love the Postie Wayne, it's a great plugin and works great for me,
    but is it possible to use it with SupportPress for email piping as
    asked above ?

    Thanks so much,

    I have not done anything more with this as I don't own the theme. Have you tried it?

    @Joe Bloggs,

    I didn't make it work. Got issues with plugin on my installation(Not the plugin's fault. But may be my server?). So I thought I would try it later. As I haven't make it work basically, I didn't ask Wayne much. Don't wanted to bother him without trying it on my end.

    @Wayne Allen

    SupportPress is a fully GPL licensed theme. I have just sent a message via the plugin page's contact form. Hope you receive it.

    @Wayne Allen

    Can you tell me if the contact form on the website http://postieplugin.com/ is the right place to contact? Already sent the message via the form.

    @Wayne,

    I tried again to replicate the config-test error I was telling. The Gmail options are fine, but the problem is that i can't see the option "pop3-ssl" on the selection list of protocol.

    My server is enabled with imap and there is no problem with it.

    This is the error message I see-

    Unable to connect. The server said:POP3 connect: Error [110] [Connection timed out]

    Once this issue is resolved, I can check the email piping issue. I am sure that the email piping works once I make the issue resolved. Hope you help me!

    Current settings I configured(Using gmail)
    Mail Protocol: POP3
    Use Transport Layer Security (TLS): No
    Port: 110 ( Also tried Port 995)

    Yes the contact form is another way to contact me.

    The problem is that Postie doesn't think IMAP is installed. Please use one of the phpinfo plugins to confirm that IMAP is really installed. Gmail requires POP3-SSL.

    Sorry for not mentioning about IMAP. I have already checked and IMAP is installed. Please look at the attached image- http://i.imgur.com/aXQKhZf.png

    Please let me know if I am missing something.

    Sent a message about the theme-SupportPress. I am ready to offer the fully GPL licensed theme free for you to test.

    Wayne,

    I proceeded further to resolve the primary issue. But I still stuck with the error:

    Unable to connect. The server said:POP3 connect: Error [110] [Connection timed out]

    The error is not related to the theme. So I would like to know if there is any solution to fix the error.

    I have checked Jetpack's Post By email plugin and it is working fine both in regular way and with the theme.

    IMAP is not installed on your server. The image you provided lists the curl protocols supported. You need to see the IMAP section with SSL enabled.

    Gmail does not support POP3 access on port 110. You need to use POP3-SSL as described here: http://postieplugin.com/postie-gmail/

    I have checked Jetpack's Post By email plugin and it is working fine both in regular way and with the theme.

    Jetpack is using the wordpress.com infrastructure and I suspect they have IMAP installed or some other way to talk to SSL enabled email servers.
