   Hi,
   I came across this very informative article on setting up WordPress on ones machine. The article is both a review of WordPress CMS as well as How-To rolled in one which makes it rather interesting to read. The author of the article is using WordPress to maintain a personal diary at home. You can read the article at the following link:

   I agree with you when you say it is all there in the codex page. But I found the article interesting neverthless for the ideas it tries to convey in an informative and entertaining manner.
