• Getting frustrated…as the threads I follow that MAY lead me to answer are closed…I keep finding “photographers” theme that don’t address the most basic of needs for real photographers – private galleries accessible by user name and password and the ability to sell prints of different sizes. I thought I’d found it by combining Photocrati and WP eMember, but the two are incompatible. I could sell prints with the Photocrati plug in but couldn’t use eMember to secure the galleries because for some reason eMember would disable the shopping cart features. In the end I dumped photocrati because I was having other issues and when I ran the theme through a validator I got TONS of code errors; not good for an expensive theme. I use free themes that are complicated AND error-free.

So I’m back to square one – I want to be able to have my clients log in, be directed to a specific page that is secure and visible only to their log in and be able to show them galleries of images they can purchase 4×6’s, 8×10’s, etc.

ANY HELP? Getting really frustrated because the “photographer themes made BY photogs FOR photogs” that I keep coming across are just online galleries. Der – don’t any of you “photographers” want to SELL your photos?

  • What you really need is a Plugin to provide the functionality, regardless of what Theme you’re using. That sort of functionality is definitely Plugin territory.

The reason you’re probably not having much luck finding a Theme to suit your needs is that Themes just aren’t likely to provide this functionality, unless you have one custom-developed.

Plug-In, Theme, I’ll settle for either; lots of great themes out there i’d love to be able to integrate this feature into. But you’re right, I haven’t searched for plug ins…maybe I’ll try that.

It was just very frustrating because photocrati was all over my questions before I bought the theme, and then when I did and realized it didn’t work, they were silent on ideas, solutions, anything. No response at all to my queries until I asked for a refund, then they just sent me a link to fill out a request. At least TELL me you have no clue. But to just ignore customers problems is bad business and left me with a bad impression.

    Hey Robert,

I was troubled to see your email as we generally pride ourselves on our service. I just checked into it, and something seems off. Perhaps you’re not receiving our responses (ie, they are going to your spam folder)?

When you asked about compatibility with emember before your purchase, I’m showing that we responded: “Robert, We can’t guarantee how third-party plugins will work with Photocrati as we don’t have control over them. Many do, some don’t. That one may work OK as it shouldn’t impact the galleries.”

Also, I did see your multiple questions on February 28th about the theme not working with emember, with a response to each of your questions from our support staff the next day on March 1. Among the responses, we directed you to our help topic articles on password protecting galleries in WordPress. I can also see that you responded that was not what you are looking for.

I’m thinking from your post above that you wanted a more sophisticated login functionality for clients, and that you’re not happy because we don’t offer it. To be fair, though, I don’t think we were silent, except to say that we don’t offer password protection functionality beyond what’s included in WordPress. And we don’t offer special support to ensure compatibility with other third-party plugins.

Regardless, since our solution didn’t work for you, I’m glad we were able to get you a refund. It may be difficult to find gallery management plugin that also includes the kind of login functionality you are looking for. You might try searching the WP.org plugin database for login redirect plugins, and consider pairing one of those with another third party gallery system like NextGen.

I do wish you the absolute best of luck.

    Warmest wishes,
    Erick, Photocrati Founder
