    Hi Tammy,

I have been testing the plugin last night and just want to make some quick suggestions which I hope will improve the productivity.

    1. First I tried on local server (xampp) and it did not work (error "send some xxxx bytes, header already sent) while online it does work
    2. if I turn on the wp debug mode, i see the following errors

Undefined index: title in /home3/xxxxx/public_html/xxxx/wp-content/plugins/recipress/php/functions.php on line 94

Notice: Undefined index: summary in /home3/xxxxx/public_html/xxxxx/wp-content/plugins/recipress/php/functions.php on line 111

Notice: Undefined variable: new_excerpt in /home3/xxxxx/public_html/xxxxx/wp-content/plugins/recipress/php/functions.php on line 53

this is may be i am not filling up the title and recipe description fields

    3. add an option to display or not the recipe title (if someone prefers to use only post title)

    4. add an option to show expert or not (if someone wants to use default excerpt)

    5. cuisine /course does not have an option to select multiple items

    6. serving -> some options like serves/numbers/persons

    7. move the add sign (+) to the bottom, if i have a long list of ingredient or steps, i have to scroll up every time

    8. do you have any plan for auto adding the nutrition values?

hope this will help you to improve

    saqwild,

I haven't yet tested the plugin on a local install, but I appreciate your feedback. The plugin does work if you don't fill in those fields, so I'm not sure why you're getting an error. I will look more into this.

The taxonomy selects only let you choose one option on purpose.

The servings output is optimized for hRecipe. "6 servings", is the same as "serves 6 people". But it's also future proof for when nutrition information is added.

Good tip on moving the plus button, I will play with different options there.

There's no plan on automatically adding nutritional values at this time.

    Hi Tammy,

    Great plugin!

Just wanted to mention that with my testing, I noticed that the instruction numbering is not updated if you remove a step within the middle.

For example, if you have 3 steps defined and you remove step 2 you end up with steps 1 and 3 as the numbers.

    Jacorre,

I'm having a bit of trouble getting the numbers to update properly as you move things around. However, they will update properly once you save/update the post. I am continuing to work on a better experience with this.

I know with a small to do list I played around with, using an ordered list along with the jquery sorting actually updated the numbers nicely. Maybe switch to using an ordered list to output the instruction steps?

    good idea, thanks!

Although I'm not sure how you'd pull the list item number? It's more of a visual thing I think?

the list item number doesn't get saved as a field, it's just displayed there as a visual reference. I've considered dropping it completely multiple times. I use an ordered list on the output of the recipe.

Oh I see! So it's more of a visual reference on the admin side, but you're looping through the fields and using an ordered list on the output side. I like the idea of having the visual step numbers but because you can move them up/down and add/delete, I think users would know that what they see is the order it would be in. So removing the visual number may be a good idea, unless you figure out a fix for it.

yeah, I think removing it wouldn't cause any problems, whereas having them seems to be causing one. Thanks for the input. I plan on putting out an update soon.

Not a problem. It's definitely helping me with a future project of mine.

One other thing I noticed was that when using a screen resolution of 1024x768, and the screen options is using 2 columns, the recipe table ends up overlapping the second column.

For example, the ingredients and instructions tables break out of the containing box.

One spelling mistake in case no one mentioned it.

The "Manage Ingedients" link under the Ingredients table is spelled wrong. Missing an r.

Yeah, I'm planning on going with % and min/max widths on those, but at some point, it'll just have to be understood that it won't go any smaller, of course.

    Thanks for catching that typo!

I'm glad you like the plugin. It kinda found it's way on the back burner due to holidays and workload, but I plan on really hitting it hard come January and getting the pro version out. I really appreciate your feedback since it's impossible for one person to duplicate every user scenario.

Tammy, is there any way to add the recipe form to the front-end like it is here with Recipe-Press? http://recipepress.net/share-a-recipe.html

    Hi Tammy,

Wondering if you could help me with something?

Instead of hard coding the measurements, I wanted to create a taxonomy for them as well. So I did.

I'm having trouble getting them to display in the drop down.

    I've tried using:

    $measurements = get_terms('measurement');

But the drop down is blank.

Adding measurements as terms really isn't necessary unless you actuall need an archive of all posts that have teaspoons of something.

You can edit the measurements on the ReciPress Options page which should be somewhere near the bottom of your left hand menu where you also edit Cuisines, Courses, and Skill Levels.

I don't actually have the plugin installed. I'm using pieces of it for a personal project I'm working on.

I figured since the ingredients table already has the code for looping thru each measurement as variable $measurements, I just needed to switch what was populating the $measurements variable.

But I've had no luck using get_terms('measurement') or get_categories('taxonomy=measurement').

I've also tried throwing in ->name to the $measurement variable within the loop in the ingredients table. But still no output?

Suggestions definitely welcome if you have time! Thank you!

I'm setting them up as taxonomies in case new ones need to be added. I'd rather have the option off the menu instead of having to go into the code to add them, especially if I'm getting help from other users who aren't code savy.

The reason get_terms isn't working is because the array it returns is more than just the terms themselves. You can get a better idea of how to use taxonomies in a select by looking at the case: 'tax_select'.

Yeah I have been working on creating a new entry specifically for measurements based on the tax_select case. Just need to work it into the ingredient table. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Hi Tammy,

Shouldn't using the following, which is exactly like the tax_select version work?

    $measurements = get_terms('measurement','get=all');

Further down, it then grabs the $measurements array and uses a foreach loop just like the tax_select.

All I did was add in ->slug and ->name to the option values.

Still didn't get any output though?

nevermind, read that wrong. I'm not really sure why it's not working without actually playing with it myself. Are you sure the taxonomy is measurement and not with an 's' at the end?

  24. Jacorre

Yeah I was just about to say that didn't work!

I have the taxonomy defined as measurement.

I defined $measurements = get_terms('measurement', 'get=all') further up in the code where your manual array entry is.

Further down in the code, I have not touched the cases for each of the field outputs except trying to add ->slug and ->name to the $measurement variables in the select output.

I get the word Array appearing in the drop down when this done. Makes sense because the $measurements variable has more than just the measurement's name. Is there a function for just retrieving a taxonomy's name? Seems like it's the wp_get_object_terms but the first argument is post->ID which doesn't exist yet when creating a new post.

I guess the other reason I wanted to use measurements as a taxonomy was in case I needed to add new measurements to the array. By doing so, wouldn't that mess up entries that already have been filed?

Oh wait, probably not because we're not using the array's subscript as a value, we're filing the name. So it wouldn't affect anything if I add measurements above or below in the array.

I still think you'd save yourself a lot of headache by simply using theme option i had created for handling the measurements. It worked perfectly. I plan on setting it to receive singular and plural values later on.

Another simple solution is to just make it a plain text value. I have also considered doing this. Since it's not absolutely necessary to ensure these are unique, it would work fine.

Another idea is to have it say "other" and then replace it with a text input if "other" is selected with a bit of jquery. That might get kind of messy though.

Can there be a form where users can submit recipe/share recipes?
Whats the ETA for the pro version? Superb work on the plugin.

    Hi Tammy,

I changed the measurements field from a select to an input field. It will be easier to use that way.

One thing I'm noticing though is that when I click the plus sign to add a new ingredient, the page jumps to the top instead staying in place.

It doesn't do that with the instructions table.

My thought was because of the javascript and I tried removing the find for the select but didn't see a difference?

Nevermind, I find the issue. When I copied the line I missed removing a couple things!

    Evako,

The pro version will include a submit form. I'm hoping to have it ready to ship sometime in January.
