I'm not sure if this is normal behaviour or not.
I normally add just one category for each post. If I take this post as an example - http://www.flightsimx.co.uk/announcements/vulcan-test-flight/ - you can see it is in the "announcements" category. However, I noticed from my stats that someone was viewing http://www.flightsimx.co.uk/uncategorized/vulcan-test-flight/ - I took a look and it did indeed show the correct post, but with a category I hadn't defined for it.
On further investigation, I notice you can put anything in the category part of the URL - http://www.flightsimx.co.uk/abc123456xyz/vulcan-test-flight/ works, too, with an apparent category of "abc123456xyz"!
Is this right? Wouldn't that result in a massive amount of apparent duplicate content to the search engines?
Cheers,
Mark
Part 1 - http://www.flightsimx.co.uk/uncategorized/vulcan-test-flight/
That might be because the default category in wordpress is Uncategorized - your might check if the vulcan-test-flight post is assigned to that category or not.
Part 2 - http://www.flightsimx.co.uk/abc123456xyz/vulcan-test-flight/
you seem to be right about this - that seems to be a bug - I tried it myself on one of my sites, it does seem to be a bug in wordpress permalinks. Might want to report it as a bug if others can confirm its happening for them as well.

Thanks for taking a look for me.
1) The post in question is not associated with Uncategorized. If I look in my category archives for the Uncategorized category, it's not shown, which is correct. So I don't think I should be able to go to that URL and see it
2) Thanks - Where do I report bugs?
Cheers,
Mark
