    quick question.

how did you acquire this domain? did kineda not run it before now?

    just curious.

Was it actually run by Kineda, I just thought they designed it?

I signed in as well. Nice initiative, but it kind a looks the same as this forum, can you tell me more about the difference between WordPress forum and your forum?

What (the hell) exactly are you trying to do? I notice that none of the veterans on the forum even bothered to comment on this, because they're busy trying to figure out a way to help the WP community...or maybe because they'd agree with me that this is beyond superfluous.

...meanwhile you start a site thats an unabashed and obvious ripoff of Kineda's more reputable website. Furthermore, why do you feel the need to start another forum? This forum has been the official forum and the most effective one. I'd be curious to know what you think will make your forum better, instead of diffusing potential new forum users in the future?

    Stop, just stop. FFS.

@ LeMaxim, just read his post on his website: (see the above link 33rockers.com). I also agree a bit with your opinion, because wordpress itself has a forum which include the whole community off wordpress, why rip off?
But I also like the idea, because this is quite a supportforum, not really a fun/discussion forum, although it supposed to be.

That's why my question to 33rockers: what is the difference between this and that?

well this forum is differant from the support forum in many differant ways. kineda was never ever responsible for this domain. he had to buy arenawp.com because wparena.com was already registered.

to tell you why wparena is differant from this one is that

wparena is more of non support stuff than support because the support forums are already there..

many competitions will be held on this domain

wordpress blogs will be showcased from all over the world

and if this reason is not enough for you guys here then all i can do is get rid of the forum and distribute the bbpress theme that i made..

thank you but i really don't want to get rid of wparena

this is not ripoff of kineda's website.. he couldn't buy this domain because i had it.. i even made an offer if he wants to buy it but he had rejected..

OK, cool responses but no answers, Kids. I still see no good, cohesive reasoning behind the 'wparena' forum. I can't stop you, but do try to maintain the centralization of support that has made WP the community-based and input-responsive piece of computer engineering that it is.

not for nothing, but those topic titles suggest something entirely different than what you're saying here...

"wparena is more of non support stuff than support because the support forums are already there"

then why do you have the following?

Help and Support — Have a question, have it solved here
Themes and Templates — The place for theme launch and support
Plugins and Hacks — The place for plugin launch and support
Feature Requests — Something you would like to see in WordPress in the future (this one cracks me up... like you alone will transfer all this information HERE where the devs can see it!?)

Sorry - but I tend to agree with leMaxim. You appear to be creating this out of a dislike for this, the official forum, feeling that your idea is "better" for one reason or another.

Dear God. someone up there called kineda reputable.

arenawp was a grab at traffic, advertising, and pagerank.

and it's hard to see this as anything but much the same.

Note: Kineda is more reputable than Mr. Karthik and his well versed english. I don't need to say more than I already have.

    See ladydelaluna's post.

I think we've already given you our suggestions...
You haven't answered my question though.
You claim it's not a support forum, yet nearly all of your topics involve support...

"Help and Support — Have a question, have it solved here"

"Themes and Templates — The place for theme launch and support"

"Plugins and Hacks — The place for plugin launch and support"

"Feature Requests — Something you would like to see in WordPress in the future"

Tell us again how it is that you're not trying to replace the official wordpress support forums?

well it really isn't a support forum but even though these topics do exist they exist for the sake of existing. i would like the users of the forum to concentrate more upon non-support issues

  19. klifix2

Then why call it 'support', while it isn't?

karthik - you're backpeddling now, and you're digging a deeper hole for yourself.

"well it really isn't a support forum but even though these topics do exist they exist for the sake of existing."

stop playing innocent - your motives are as transparent as cling wrap

that said, you have no more registered users than you did within the 5 minutes of posting this yesterday - so I'm not going to continue bumping this thread for you by arguing - i think what you're trying to do is sneaky and underhanded, and i have no respect for people like that.

well still i am serious about this project.. please do not think that i am trying to beat around the bush and waste your time. i have not opened this site because i want to compete with arenawp or make money or any damn thing like..

what i really want is a nice community to play around with..

There's some history/drama here that I'm conveniently going to ignore.

What's wrong with having more than one forum for discussing wordpress topics ?
i.e. there a few major forums for discussing all things mac, even though there is the "official" mac forum.

I think having competition will only makes things better. On this forum, you can't discuss wordpress.com, and you better not mention anything about k2.

A different forum may have a section specifically targeted toward users with gripes about wordpress.com policy... or anything else that is taboo on wordpress.org's forum.

I say, keep on keepin' on. The wp public will decide if your site needs to exist.

thanks VaamYob for you ur comment . i really appreciate your comment. i think i should allow the community to decide what needs to be done with wparena.

"A different forum may have a section specifically targeted toward users with gripes about wordpress.com policy... or anything else that is taboo on wordpress.org's forum."

    But this one (wparena) doesn't.
It has exactly the same topics as this forum does. (See my previous posts.)

"i think i should allow the community to decide what needs to be done with wparena."

As if the disdain for it shown here in this thread isn't enough? Okay... you go play with your little ripoff money maker. Have a great time.

All I know is that there have been a few times when I wasn't done talking/reading about something in a discussion here and a moderator would (appropriately) cut the discussion short.

Because this is the "official" wordpress support forum, a much more strict set of rules regarding topics must be in place.

In an unofficial forum, I can see bending the rules as an option, where non wordpress.org core issues can be discussed. I would imagine that it'd be alot easier for coolkarthik88 to tolerate a "how do I migrate to/from K2" discussion than wordpress.org's forums.

    I like having options.

As far as rip-off money makers... would you consider slashdot.org a rip-off, or digg.com ? Those sites do nothing more than let people discuss what others are already discussing somewhere else.
