   Hi all,

   I've just downloaded the latest version of WordPress and am about to install it but would really like to clarify something 1st:

   Q. Do I need to have a domain name registered to use the WordPress platform?

   I understand that the final product will need its own domain name, but while I'm editing my designs and playing around with WordPress can I just have it hosted somewhere without an actual registered domain name linked to it.

   No, I think there is no need to take registered domail while you are developing phase.

   Thanks for that.

   I'm trying to register some hosting now but it's asking me for a domain name to be associated with the host.

   Can I register a host without a domain?

   No, You have to enter your domain name

   What if I already have a domain and a website but only wish to use WordPress at the moment just to learn the ropes and develop it a bit.

   I have as my site and own this domain. Can use this domain with a host (that im just about to register) and install WordPress on it without making any changes to my current website?

   No so you can install wordpress in subfolder of you domain name
