i realize a visitor to my website can always get back to the homepage by clicking on the title of my site in the header at the top of every page. but, that’s not obvious to everyone.

fyi: i’m using the default version of wordpress for http://www.lewiscountysirens.com

my question: can anyone suggest a simple way to add a link to ‘home’ on the pages where my posts are viewed?

OR, is it possible, and simple, to have my entire sidebar (which i really like) actually show up on every page where individual posts are viewed?

thank you in advance to any who weigh in. –news reporter

  • Try replacing the code in your current single.php file with the code at http://wordpress.pastebin.com/V3UzyaPX

But please make a backup copy of your original single.php file first.

oh wow. i thought you were giving me something to read up on ….

so, you’re suggesting i delete my current single.php file and then paste that …. new one right in it’s place. wow! you are amazing.

before i test it, what will it, hopefully, do esmi?

It should work. At least I don’t think I’ve overlooked anything. It’s just one of those cases where it was far easier to create the new file than try to explain how to do it. All I’ve done is added a call to <?php get_sidebar(:?> and changed the class on the content div to make room for the sidebar.

es, you can tell i’m over cautious, and under-educated – – i’ve never used this pastebin before, so: i see a page of code there, with some words in color and with numbered lines, but i ALSO see below that, a box called “submit a ammendment or correction below” where it looks like the same code, just all black font (and no numbers)

which one do i paste in my template?

esmi, you are my frickin hero! it’s beautiful! it worked, it looks perfect.

thank you, thank you, thank you.

    how can i repay you?

Just glad to hear that it’s now working that way that you want it to. 🙂

If you want to pay something back in, have a look around the forums and see if there are a couple of newbies that you can help out.
