   Hi i have a static front page and my posts go to a page called updates.
   I would like to create a new page called disccussion and once a week put a new topic on this page so that people can air their views on the said topic, is there a way anyone knows of that will let me do this or maybe automate the process i.e remove the topic automatically after say one week and then replace it with a new one?

   Thats great!! one last thing, when the page opens my topic is showing but the topic needs to be clicked i.e opened before comments can be made is there anyway of having the topic already opened so that when they go to the page the topic details are showing and the area to comments is directly underneath??

   yes
   go to
   dashboard - settings - associated posts
   choose (I believe from memory) 2nd template option for that
