_wp_page_template shows on pages

    Right, I think I’ve seen at least one thread about this but without a solution for me.

    I get “_wp_page_template” on every page, no matter if it is brand new or has had some changes in it. It occured for the first time when I started playing around with theme custumization. It hasn’t got anything to do with plugins, and it doesn’t help deleting any hidden stuff under “advanced” as it just pops up again.

    Someone thought it was some meta-stuff, but I haven’t got a clue what to look for.

    Help, links, suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks!

    Is the problem present only on Pages, or does it show up on posts as well?

    First, search for that string in all your template files. Is it present?

    Second, you say this hasn’t got anything to do with plugins. How do you know? If you have any plugins. have you deactivated all of them? Does the problem remain?

    Yes just pages, not posts.

    No, it is not present. And yes, all plugins are deactivated. I find it very weird…

    Looking through the source, _wp_page_template is indeed related to post-meta information. Did you perhaps create a custom paeg template, assign that template to a page, and then delete the template file?

    Look through each of your Pages and check the value of the “Page Template” for each one.

    When I look at the pages in admin I can see the field in advanced, but don’t seem to be able to delete it. (When I do it just comes back.)

    Where can I remove the assignation to a page in the template files? Or did I misunderstand you?

    Try to select “Default emplate” from the drop-down “Page Template” selection.

    Should I see this on the “Edit page”-page? Don’t have a “Default”, just a “_wp_page_template”…

    Ok, so I added a page template and got to choose betwheen that one and “_wp_page_template”. However, the only difference from when I’ve chosen my own template is that it posts the template filenamn after “_wp_page_template”…
